Ingredients
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sour cream or yogurt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Mix the Bananas: Fold in the mashed bananas and sour cream until well combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. If desired, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.
Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and Frost: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting with your favorite cream cheese frosting.
