Classic Sugar Cookie
These sugar cookies are tender, chewy, and have a delicate sweetness that pairs wonderfully with a variety of toppings. With a hint of vanilla and a sprinkle of sugar on top, each bite is a delightful experience.
Ingredients
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup white sugar for decoration
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until smooth.
Add Egg and Vanilla: Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
Combine Mixtures: Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
Shape Cookies: Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass, and sprinkle with the remaining sugar.
Bake: Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
