Donut Recipe
These sugar donuts are light and fluffy, with a golden exterior that's beautifully dusted with sugar. They have a subtly sweet flavour and a satisfying texture that makes them a great accompaniment to your morning coffee or an afternoon snack.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
1 large egg
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Oil for frying
1/2 cup granulated sugar for coating
Instructions
Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Combine: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms. Knead gently on a floured surface until smooth.
Shape the Donuts: Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a donut cutter or two round cutters to cut out donuts and holes.
Fry: Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry the donuts for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
Coat in Sugar: While still warm, coat the donuts in granulated sugar for a sweet finish.
